No, that's not from Danielle's sex tape. It's Teresa's grunt of anger as she hurls profanities at Danielle, nearly flicking Andy Cohen off like a fly when she tries to lunge at her castmate. If she did it with a dressed table, she could do it with a lightweight Bravo host.
When she blows, she hits the ceiling. Then begs for more. Her eyes pop out as she turns into The Incredible Housewife Hulkette. 'True Blood' Stars Call Getting Naked 'Another Day At The Office'
Stephen Moyer and Anna Paquin
Photo: MTV News
With shows like "Mad Men," "Breaking Bad," "Dexter" and "True Blood" earning prized nods at the 2010 Emmy Awards, it's clear that the cable channels are reaping the rewards of their original programming. And those programming choices often involve pushing the envelope with edgy, provocative subjects and story lines. And these days, HBO's "True Blood" is the epitome of provocative TV.
The show is not only a bloody good time, but its daring themes and attractive cast are bleeding into pop culture (cheesy pun intended!). Case in point: Stars Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer and Alexander Skarsgård appear naked on a recent Rolling Stone cover. When MTV News spoke with the cast at HBO's Emmy party on Sunday, we asked their thoughts on the saucy photos, as well as who might next be naked on a magazine cover.
"I just saw the naked Rolling Stone cover with our beautiful castmates," admitted co-star Jim Parrack a.k.a. lovable Hoyt Fortenberry. "But it's like another day at the office, we're used to seeing that."
Nelsan Ellis, who plays Lafayette Reynolds, told MTV News he found the cover shot just plain sexy: "It's gruesome and sexy. Naked people with blood on them — only on 'True Blood.' "
Lindsey Haun, who plays Sookie's cousin Hadley, agreed with the "sexy" description, but also had a bit of artistic analysis to offer. "They looked sooo good with that blood all over them! Sexy, although Alex was making kind of a surprised face," she said. "It was funny. Stephen and Anna were totally sultry, but Alex, I felt like he should have been in the Sex Pistols with the look on his face."
Newly named series regular Joe Manganiello — coincidentally, the actor currently graces another magazine cover in a semi-dressed state — echoed Parrack's sentiments about baring some skin.
"Oh, that's just a typical day at the office for us," Manganiello said. "That's just how we all go out and earn a living, really."
Fan favorite Kristin Bauer a.k.a. Pam De Beaufort said she might be ready for her own scantily clad close-up — after a cocktail or two. "When's my turn? It might be in an hour or so if there's free booze," she joked. "I might just have to take matters into my own hands."
Meanwhile, Marshall Allman (Sam's brother Tommy) revealed that there's a bonus photo that some readers might have missed.
"Did you get the one with the foldout?" he asked. "I'm on there, but I'm like [bends over and sticks his rear out, smiling]. You didn't get that one? I guess it was a limited edition," he joked.
We let Paquin have the last word on the subject: "Everyone should get naked!"

Robyn Is 'Super-Duper Excited' To Perform At VMAs
Robyn
Photo: Roger Kisby/ Getty Images
Somewhat lost in last week's announcement that both Usher and Paramore will be performing at the 2010 MTV Video Music Awards was the news of who else would be joining the festivities ... and no, we're not talking about the stars of "The Social Network."
It's Robyn, the Swedish superstar who, slowly but surely, has begun her stateside assault with a pair of highly touted pop albums (Body Talk Part 1 and Body Talk Part 2, both released this year, with a third installment due in December), a stirring single and video ("Hang With Me"), and a string of sweat-drenched, sweet-and-salty live shows. And on VMA night, she'll take another step toward mainstream success when she performs with house artist Deadmau5 during the big show.
She's just one of the artists who'll be jamming with Deadmau5 — other confirmed acts include Travie McCoy and Jason Derülo — but she's certainly the one with the most to prove. After all, to most VMA viewers, she'll be the wild card, the great unknown. And, as she told MTV News, Robyn is more than honored to be performing ... and definitely looking forward to the challenge.
"Deadmau5 is fantastic and I'm super-duper excited to be able to perform for the VMA audience," she said in an e-mail. "I'm gonna be 'dancing on my own'!"
That, of course, is a reference to a (really awesome) single from the first Body Talk album — she'll be performing "a never-before-heard mix" of it at the VMAs — and though you probably aren't familiar just yet, we're willing to bet that after Robyn rocks the show, that will change. Quickly.
The 27th annual MTV Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday, September 12, at 9 p.m. ET. Fans can go to VMA.MTV.com (or text VMA to 97979 if they are Verizon subscribers) to vote for the winners in general categories, including Best New Artist, from now through September 12.

Kanye West Drops Justin Bieber 'Runaway Love' Remix
Justin Bieber and Kanye West
Photo: Getty Images
On Kanye West's re-engineered vision of Justin Bieber's "Runaway Love," which arrived online Monday (August 30), 'Ye and Raekwon take turns trading Wu-homage rhymes in between the teen's vocals.
West sampled the Wu-Tang Clan's 1993 breakout smash "Wu-Tang Clan Ain't Nuthing Ta F--- Wit" for the number. In his verse, Kanye pays homage to Raekwon's standout verse on Jodeci's "Freek'N You" remix, among other nods to the Staten Island collective. The veteran Wu lyricist also gives a nod to that same verse.
"Yo, 'Ye, what up," Rae spits, opening the track like he did on the Jodeci hit. "You got stacks like the International House of Pancakes/ All alone, ready to phone me and your hand shakes/ Palms is wetted, don's regret/ Never to walk miles for love, I sit in the starter's deck."
"Last name West, and my teeth diamonds," West rapped. "She said, 'Yo, what's your occupation: crazy rhyming?' "
Bieber's vocals are the same as on the original. Raekwon anchors the song with two verses, and Kanye has one verse on the track.
Raekwon spoke to MTV News earlier this month and revealed that only he and West joined forces in the studio for the track. The wordsmith made no mention of Bieber among the celebrities who were present during the session at New York's Electric Lady Studios.
"Kanye was just being Kanye," Rae said. "He was definitely excited. The energy in the room was already speaking for itself. It was time to get up and have fun on the track together. We was drinking, laughing, being normal cats. At the same time, we had a houseful of celebrities in the house as well. [Kanye] was moving through the facility, checking out the studios he had. He had three studios in there.
"You had Akon in the building. Mos Def was just chillin'. Mos is a good friend of 'Ye's," Rae added. "You had Charlie Wilson, the legendary cat from the Gap Band. Chris Rock walked in. These are guys that really respect who 'Ye is. 'Ye's energy is cool. He's a normal cat. A normal Chicago/world cat. Very mature. Having a great time."
The record came together after Kanye West and Justin Bieber talked to each other via Twitter. "Listening to @JustinBieber 'Run Away love,' " West wrote "I love Sunday mornings in the crib."
Bieber responded and the two traded messages about their mutual admiration.
West then added Raekwon in the mix. The producer revealed that the Wu-Tang Clan star performed on one of his favorite remixes of all time, Jodeci's "Freek'N You" redux.
"Maybe me and Rae should hop on Runaway Love! FLEX would drop bombs," West wrote on Twitter, referring to Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex's method for showing his approval of records.

Taylor Swift's 'Mine' Video: The Other Teenage Dream
Taylor Swift and Toby Hemingway in "Mine"
Photo: Big Machine Records
It's interesting that the premiere of Taylor Swift's "Mine" video comes less than three weeks after the grand unveiling of Katy Perry's "Teenage Dream" clip. For all their differences, they are essentially about the same thing: the fantasies of young, thoroughly modern women.
Of course, those fantasies are about as different as the women presenting them. Perry's "Teenage Dream" is very much about the immediacy of pleasure, of fun and sexy romps on the beach and uninhibited road-trip adventures. Swift's version is quite the opposite: Hers is a dream buoyed by the satisfaction of the long-term, of a doting husband and towheaded children and white picket fences. They are two wildly dissimilar sides of the same coin: Perry wants to be free; Taylor wants a husband. And the one you tend to identify with probably says a lot about you.
To be clear, these certainly aren't the only two avenues available to women (not by a long shot), but if you want to get professorial about things, "Teenage Dream" and "Mine" offer up a rather interesting dissection of feminism in the 21st century. This is not to suggest that Perry or Swift are paragons of the movement, but they are two of the hugest pop(ish) stars on the planet, adored and idolized by millions. And certainly, a portion of those millions are young girls. So, really, there's probably something at stake here.
To that end, while I don't want to wade too heavily into the field of gender politics (these are, after all, just a pair of pop videos), it's interesting — if not sort of disappointing — that neither Perry nor Swift are seen running Fortune 500 companies or piloting Black Hawk helicopters in their videos. Those, it would seem, are Teenage Dreams of a different sort.
Of course, neither option is necessarily bad. Perry is empowered because she is totally unchained, free to pursue whatever (or whomever) she desires. Swift goes the opposite route in the "Mine" video, investing fully in the idea of love and family and the future. There may be bumps along the way — as she sings, there are bills to pay and late-night shouting matches, and suddenly, the big house doesn't seem all that attainable — but she's committed. She's in it for the long haul. It's not a particularly sexy dream, but it's certainly an admirable on, especially in these times.
With "Mine," Swift has basically set herself up as the anti-Perry. And in doing so, she's created a rather interesting counter-proposal to KP's teenage dreams. No one is saying either is wrong, it's just interesting to see two of the biggest female stars with such wildly differing takes on feminism and the future. They are, in essence, presenting two possible paths. A girl's gotta have options, after all.

The Box-Office Top Five
#1 "The Last Exorcism" ($9.4 million)
#2 "Takers" ($7.5 million)
#3 "The Expendables" ($2.7 million)
#4 "Eat Pray Love" ($ 2.2 million)
#5 "The Other Guys" ($1.9 million)
"The Last Exorcism" scared up major ticket sales on its opening day. The supernatural horror flick raked in an estimated $9.4 million on Friday. "Exorcism," which is directed by Daniel Stamm and boasts gore-master Eli Roth of the "Hostel" series fame as a producer, drew enough moviegoers to grab the top spot. The film, which follows a documentary crew in rural Louisiana hired to capture the creepy antics of a supposedly possessed young girl, goes light on digital wizardry in favor of scoring scares with practical effects.
In the second place slot is the star-studded heist flick "Takers." T.I., Chris Brown, Idris Elba, Hayden Christensen and Matt Dillon work the screen in a story about a crew of suave thieves set to carry out a major job. The thriller snatched $7.5 million in Friday ticket sales.
Sliding to third place is the heavily-armed action fest "The Expendables." The fiery, butt-kicking flick raised $2.7 million on Friday, after ruling the box office for the past two weeks and sitting comfortably at the top spot. Friday's haul edges the total domestic tally of the Sylvester Stallone-helmed enterprise near the $75 million mark.
"Eat Pray Love," featuring marquee vet Julia Roberts, settled into fourth place. The soul-searching movie adapted from the runaway hit memoir of the same name, nabbed $2.2 million in box office receipts on Friday. The loopy cop comedy "The Other Guys" continues to power along, taking in $1.9 million and rounding out Friday's top movies in the fifth-place slot.
Although "Avatar" wears the crown for the highest-grossing film ever, the re-release of the James Cameron adventure, revamped with previously unreleased footage, failed to crack the top ten with only $1.2 million in Friday ticket sales.

Taylor Swift?s ?Mine? Video Update
The ?Should?ve Said No? songstress?s new video ?Mine? is set to debut and her director Roman White has leaked more details about the clip.
"There's a lot of time travel in this video, which is fun. No DeLoreans [referring to the movie 'Back to the Future']! Time travel is horrible for the hair, but fun nonetheless ... It's evolving their family story."
White continued, "On the second day, we shot a lot of the stuff. The second day with her and Toby, [we shot] them moving in together, all of their stuff, where they're kind of living their life, them with their kids, them having their huge argument, kind of the moment at the end. We shot the wedding shot, which is very interesting ... those were the pictures that leaked first, which was very odd."

Swizz Beatz Encourages 50 Cent To Make 'Triumphant' Music

Super-producer Swizz Beatz has been keeping super busy in the studio these days.
Swizzy has jumped on Kanye West's all-star "Power" remix and has been updating his Twitter followers about his recent late-night sessions with everyone from N.E.R.D. to Mary J. Blige. During his Thursday (August 26) interview on "RapFix Live," the rapper/producer revealed that he's also been in the lab with 50 Cent.
"I met up with him earlier in the day," Swizz explained about slotting studio time with Fif, Mary and Busta Rhymes on Wednesday. "He's working on some amazing material that we're possibly collaborating on." For the most part, Swizz kept the details of his collabo with 50 on the low: "I don't want to talk too soon or too early, but it's crazy."
50 has been going back and forth about the direction of his next album after reportedly scrapping plans to work in some dance rhythms on his Black Magic LP. Swizzy, who hit the studio with 50 to craft material for the Queens MC's 2007 album Curtis, said the only advice he has for Fif is to maintain a winner's attitude.
"Triumphant. That's it. Everything just would have to be triumphant," Swizzy advised. But the producer said he's encouraging all the stars he works with, including the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, to unleash a crazy amount of swagger in the booth.
"That's my approach on every artist I'm working with right now. Even with Mary, you're gonna be able to hear this week, probably Friday, her sound that's triumphant," Swizz said. "For me to have that blueprint and to want to be able to share it with everybody that's of talent, it's like, 'Wow, this is what I get to do for work?' It's fun."

James Cameron Says We 'Live In A Science-Fiction World'
James Cameron
Photo: MTV News
With the theatrical re-release of "Avatar" — including a much-discussed nine extra minutes of footage that features an "alien kink" scene — just days away, MTV News recently conducted an interview with the Oscar-winning maestro himself, James Cameron.
So far the director has shared his thoughts on sending 3-D cameras (and people) to Mars, his wish list for future film technologies and revealed what other project might come before an "Avatar" sequel.
Given the filmmaker's unparalleled success in Hollywood and his project with NASA, we wondered if the prospect of changing the history of space exploration carries more weight for him than making the two most successful movies in history.
"I don't draw a line between fantasy and reality," Cameron told us. "To me, I love science fiction, but we kind of live in a science-fiction world right now. And I've done deep-ocean exploration. I've been in situations personally, for real, that I would have considered science fiction when I was younger."
Cameron added that he prefers to blur the lines between fact and fiction when it comes to the relationship between his films and the real world.
"For me, it's just a continuum between cinema, where we know kind of that it's a fantasy world, but it requires a lot of advanced engineering to create it," he said, comparing movies to the "real world of exploration, where it requires equally advanced, but very different technology to go do interesting and new extraordinary things."
Not surprisingly, Cameron said he happily moves between the two realities. "I'm comfortable in both worlds," he said.
Check out everything we've got on "Avatar."

Kanye West 'Power' Remix Co-Stars Jay-Z, Swizz Beatz
Jay-Z and Kanye West
Photo: Dimitrios Kambouris/ WireImage
If you're putting together a remix of a song called "Power," it makes sense to hand over the first few verses to Forbes' top Hip-Hop Cash King. That explains why Kanye West invited Jay-Z to bless the remake of the first single from his new album.
"Is this thing on? Oh, I thought they silenced us, 'Ye. Power to the people," Jay says before dropping into his first verse on the song, which Funkmaster Flex aired in part on New York's Hot 97 and then posted in full on his site Thursday (August 19) night.
"We livin' in that 31st century/ Futuristic fly sh--/ The penthouse is the projects and everybody flies private," Jigga raps, taking the tune a century ahead of Kanye's original. "New watches, you know what time it is, watch us/ They can't stop us, the prophets, beyotches," he adds, before Yeezy lays down the song's now-indelible chorus.
But Jay's not done yet. "Rumble young man, rumble/ Life is a trip so sometimes we gon' stumble/ You gotta go through pain in order to become you/ But once the world numbs you you'll feel like there's only one you/ Now you got the power to do anything you want to/ Until you ask yourself, 'Is this what it's all come to?' "
Giving some sage advice to his younger charge, Jay adds, 'F--- all these labels/ F--- what everyone wants from you," warning that they're trying to "Axl Rose you/ Welcome to the Jungle." The Chairman follows up with a reference to the philosophy of renowned late author, womanizer and pugilist Norman Mailer, explaining that his man is "in search of the truth/ Even if it goes through Taylor Swift."
By the time it's Kanye's time to shine, he's ready to brag about how "Power" has already created its own universe. "Now when I walk in, everybody do the 'Power' clap/ Clap, clap, clap/ Fresh for the club, I just took a half an hour nap," raps the tireless MC. Then he alludes to the time he spent off after the Swift incident at last year's MTV VMAs with the line, "My socket was out the plug, now it's time to get the power back."
After pondering the abuse of power, 'Ye says while we can't all become "American Idols," we can at least "grab a camera, shoot a viral/ Huh? Take the power in your own hands/ I'm a grown man, doin' my grown dance." Considering his video for "Power" is like a moving painting, it's fitting that the Louis Vuitton Don drops an art history reference, ending his verse with the line, "I don't stop until I see the end, my vision is clear, b----/ I'm on my Van Gogh, I don't hear s---."
West gets a bit uncharacteristically political in his next verse, sending prayers out to those who lost family members in the Pakistani floods while praying that the U.S. keeps troops out of Iran and doesn't get tangled up with North Korea. Swizz Beatz drops in to pump West up a bit more, and then Yeezy brings it home with an extended verse in double time over his background singers, who slide into the iconic chorus from Snap!'s 1990 club banger "The Power."
Showing he still feels like a king, Kanye drops references to the crucifixion and compares himself to both NASCAR legend Jeff Gordon and NBA superstar Michael Jordan. "But I be feelin' like Jordan when I'm recordin'," he says, elongating the end of each line, " 'Cause every time I record, I duck to slap the boards."
But don't think he doesn't have a sense of humor about his public image. "I don't know what these rappers gon' do afterwards/ Prolly spaz like I might do at the awards," he says, admitting that the remix is another realization of one of his life's dreams.
"Now Jay my big brother and Bey my 'lil sister."

What Is 'The Event'? The Stars Tell Us ... Sort Of (VIDEO)
I have absolutely no idea, but that's why 'The Event' is so intriguing. Mixing elements of hit sci-fi shows like 'Lost' with the addictive serialized nature of a '24,' the new NBC series (premieres Mon., Sept. 20, 9PM ET) follows a number of intriguing characters on all sides of a mysterious, possibly supernatural occurrence.
The stars of the show -- including Jason Ritter, Laura Innes, Blair Underwood, Scott Patterson and Zeljko Ivanek -- can't say too much for fear of network snipers, but I tried to get as much out of them as I could. The result? Even more intrigue, I think -- are you excited to watch? Permalink | Email this | Linking Blogs | Comments

'Piranha 3D' Sequel Already Planned
Jerry O'Connell in "Piranha 3D"
Photo: Gene Page / Dimension
Hot off the $10 million opening weekend for "Piranha 3D," Dimension Films announced Monday (August 23) that a sequel is already in the works.
"We are thrilled that audiences are not just loving 'Piranha 3D,' but cheering for it," producer Mark Canton said in a statement. "And it's fantastic that so many critics are really getting the movie and recommending it. We can't wait to get to work on the sequel."
We've been following the blood- and breast-filled production since its humble beginnings, back when we visited the Lake Havasu, Arizona, set where co-star Paul Scheer bragged to us that the film's blood content would likely break records.
"Over 600 gallons of blood were used in this movie so far, and we're not even done," Scheer told us. "This is gonna be the most boobs and blood in any motion picture of all time."
Despite the film's seemingly campy nature — complete with the cast's cheeky Funny or Die video, in which they ask the Academy to consider "Piranha 3D" for a Best Picture Oscar nomination — the 1978 original film and its 1981 sequel "Piranha II: The Spawning" launched the careers of respected filmmakers Joe Dante, John Sayles and James Cameron.
And if those established pedigrees aren't enough, director Alexandre Aja knows what it takes to get moviegoers into theaters. "There's going to be 3-D double-D boobs!" he laughed when we talked to him earlier this summer. "I want to know exactly how many different girls' boobs are in the movie. I think it's a lot. I think blood-wise, I have to get the final number, but we are beyond anything you can even imagine."
With a current rating of 81 percent Fresh on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has struck a chord with critics as well. MTV's own Kurt Loder called the film's effects "top notch," "fluid" and just plain fun. "The thrills here may be traditional, but they're still actually thrilling," he wrote.
The Associated Press' Christy Lemire gushed about the film: "Run, don't walk: 'Piranha 3-D' is hilariously, cleverly gory. Mere words cannot describe how awesomely gnarly 'Piranha 3D' is, how hugely entertaining, and how urgently you must get yourself to the theatre to see it. Like, now."
Check out everything we've got on "Piranha 3D."

'Glee' Creator On Britney Spears Cameo: 'It Was Like The President Had Come'

Britney Spears may be a pop princess, but "Glee" creator Ryan Murphy felt as if the president had stopped by the set during Spears' recent visit to William McKinley High. Murphy dished about what went down when the singer filmed her cameo for the "Britney/Brittany" episode.
"It was literally like the President had come," Murphy told E! Online. "We all had to wear wristbands. I couldn't get into my own sets at one point, which I thought was hilarious."
Murphy thought Spears was moved by the cast's admiration for her. "I think she was really impressed about how so many kids of the show do what they do because they grew up wanting to be Britney Spears," he said. "She was really sweet with them. We had a number with a bunch of 8-year-old dancers in the show and she spent a lot of time talking to them, and they did the number for her ... She was so sweet, she's great with kids, she was so awesome."
But security remained tight, Murphy said, because "everybody was sort of trying to get into the set and find out what the hell she's doing in the episode." What Spears will be doing on the show is still unknown, but a picture the singer tweeted from the set suggests that she may be playing some sort of receptionist.
Aside from hanging with the pop princess on set, the "Glee" creator also got to hear some of Spears' new material. "I got to hear some of the music she's putting out later this fall or early next year," Murphy said. "It's really a great return to form for her; the songs are amazing so I feel she's riding the crest."
And while there has been talk of Madonna tunes blaring the speaker intercoms once again, Murphy has also revealed that Britney "probably" will reprise her cameo spot on "Glee" episodes.
Last week, the singer tweeted photos of herself on set alongside Murphy and castmember Heather Morris. Posing in front of a set that looked similar to the singer's "Me Against the Music" video backdrop, Spears channeled the Madonna look that was donned in their 2003 collaboration.

Lauryn Hill Returns, Snoop Dogg Reigns At Rock The Bells 2010

SAN BERNARDINO, California -- Hip-hop is so spontaneous that you never know where a historic moment might take place. That wasn't the case Saturday night, however: Guerilla Union informed all of us weeks ago that history would be made on August 21, 2010, in San Bernardino.
It was the kickoff of this year's Rock the Bells Tour, and out of its six previous outings, this one was surely the most inspired and ambitious. The lineup was surreal and a fantasy wish list for hip-hop fans, including Snoop Dogg, Wu-Tang Clan, A Tribe Called Quest, Slick Rick, Rakim, KRS-One and a returning Lauryn Hill.
Dope! No, this is beyond that. Unbelievable. And to raise the stakes on this outing, all the legendary artists would be performing a classic album from their catalogs. As for Ms. Hill, well, does it matter what she performs? Just seeing her for the first time in more than a decade (or for the first time period, as was the case for most fans at the concert) was a blessing. (Relive the Rock the Bells Tour kickoff minute-by-minute with our live blog over on RapFix!)
Hill stole our hearts in the mid-'90s, originally as part of the Fugees. In a genre dominated by masculinity, Lauryn stood out from her peers as rap's most unique artist. She was astonishingly talented as a vocalist and as an MC, and she could do both seamlessly. The Fugees' The Score made her an international phenomenon, and her solo debut, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, turned her into an instant legend.
That was 12 years ago, and the new music (as well as concert appearances) have been infamously sparse. On Saturday, even though she came midway through the card, Hill was undoubtedly the must-see event of the night. After Slick Rick performed The Great Adventures of Slick Rick, Rakim tackled Paid in Full and KRS-One dropped his Boogie Down productions masterpiece Criminal Minded, Lauryn took the stage.
Hill started with a can't-miss one-two punch of "Lost One" and "Doo-Wop (That Thing)." Backed by a six-piece band and three backup singers, just about all her selections were remixed variations of her classics, with the tempo sped up. This was not a woman who some reports had labeled "crazy." Lauryn was lucid and dancing and appeared to be enjoying herself.
"It's good to see you, everybody!" she said after "Hurts So Bad."
Then, before "Zion," Hill said: "It was 13 years ago I wrote a song about my son. August 3rd. Can you believe that? It's not necessarily easy, but it's beautiful." Lauryn then instructed the band to "make it bounce."
Hill ended where her career began -- with the Fugees -- rapping "Ready or Not" and "Fugee La." When she exited, an undercurrent of fans chanted "Lauryn, Lauryn!"
A Tribe Called Quest had fans yelling "Thank you!" Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and Ali Shaheed Muhammad performed several selections from their timeless Midnight Marauders and threw in a few surprises. One of the original members, Jarobi, came out for "Can I Kick It?," and Busta Rhymes (accompanied by Spliff Star) made an appearance with his banger "Stop the Party." Q-Tip rapped his lines from "The Scenario" over the beat, then the track switched to the actual "Scenario" beat. Bust went on a rampage during his star-making verse from the song. Rhymes, Spliff and Jarobi stayed onstage for the last two numbers: "Check the Rhyme" and "Award Tour."
Wu-Tang was next with their 36 Chambers LP, and filling in for Ol' Dirty Bastard was the "Young Dirty Bastard," Dirt's eldest son Boy Jones. Jones embodied his pop's mannerisms and rebellious spirit, jumping off the stage and performing "Shimmy Shimmy Ya" with no shirt on. Jones also wore the same hairstyle as Dirty sported on his solo debut cover.
The set of the night however belonged to the last act: Snoop Dogg performed Doggystyle and brought out his DPGC family Kurupt, Daz, Warren G, Lady of Rage and RBX. The Dogg utilized the big screen onstage to unveil mini-movies for each skit on his album. Dr. Dre appeared on one skit, telling his friend to do an old-school song. Snoop took that opportunity to step out of Doggystyle and do "The Next Episode." The energy for Snoop's set was at a high pitch for every song. Even though some members of the crowd were on their feet for more than 10 hours, everyone showed love.
There was an amazing exchange during "Ain't No Fun" and "Regulate," during which everyone sang Nate Dogg's part ("you better be ready," Snoop laughed, telling Warren G, who wasn't aware the record was in the set list); the gangster crooner is still recovering from multiple strokes.
Other highlights of the Dogg's set included "Doggy Dogg World" and "What's My Name." He started with "Gin and Juice" and "ended" with "What's My Name," but we all know a Dogg Pound party don't stop, so Pharrell Williams appeared on the video screen in a tux singing his parts of "Minnie the Moocher." He then did a call-and-response of Snoop's name with the audience, before Snoop tackled "Drop It Like It's Hot" and "I Wanna Rock."

It looks like fans will have to wait to catch Drake and Wiz Khalifa on the same bill.
In a much-watched Ustream convo with fans on Thursday, Drizzy extended an invitation to Khalifa to join his upcoming Light Dreams and Nightmares Tour. However, the Pittsburgh MC said he won't be added to the Nightmares lineup, which also features Clipse and Bun B, and has decided to focus on his own Waken Baken string of dates.
"No disrespect to [Drake] or anybody else who might wanna see me do some more collaborative things, but to keep building and keep my brand as strong as what it is, I gotta keep focusing on what it is," Khalifa told XXLmag.com on Friday (August 20). "This is my first tour that I got coming up, the Waken Baken Tour. I gotta at least kick that off and make that what it is so we can do 10 more."
The Kush & OJ MC clarified that although he'll be working the performance circuit solo, it's all love when it comes to Drake. Khalifa confided that Drizzy's offer proves he's on the right track.
"Just the fact of cuz even extending his hand and me being on his radar is tight to me. It just lets me know that I'm doing what I need to be doing as far as staying relevant and staying poppin'," Khalifa said. "But I think to keep me poppin' and keep me relevant I gotta stay building on top of what I'm doing and what I been doing."
Khalifa also added that he needs to stay on his grind until he can stack paper like Drizzy.
"I was looking on the Internet and [saw] that [Drake] made $10 million this year," Khalifa said. "So maybe when I make $10 million, then we can tour."
The MC added that while he won't be an official Nightmares act, he may make a special appearance in certain cities.
"We can do like some special dates or some surprise guest-type thing, but I need 10 mil too, Drake," Khalifa said, ribbing the Toronto lyricist.
